End-to-End Telematics Solution for Shared E-Bike

Client Background

A mobility startup in the shared micromobility sector had developed a promising electric bike (e-bike) for urban sharing platforms. While the bike’s mechanical design was finalized and ready for market, the client lacked a critical element: a fully functional telematics system. At the time, they only had a proof of concept based on an SDK, no working hardware, enclosure, or integration.

The Challenge

Our task was to design and deliver a complete telematics solution including electronics, firmware, and a custom mechanical enclosure that would:

  • Fit perfectly into the bike’s existing compact frame
  • Achieve IP67 water and dust resistance
  • Be reliable for 24/7 outdoor operation
  • Meet cost-efficiency targets for mass production

This meant we had to work within tight spatial constraints, environmental durability requirements, and rapid deployment timelines — all without modifying the bike’s original structure.

Our Solution

We took a full-scope approach, handling every aspect from concept to manufacturing:

  •  Mechanical Design: We engineered a compact enclosure that fits seamlessly into the bike’s existing space, without requiring any structural changes. The design was optimized for durability, heat dissipation, and accessibility for maintenance.
  •  Electronic Design: Our team developed a custom PCB with integrated GPS, LTE/4G connectivity, Bluetooth, and CAN/UART interfaces to communicate with the e-bike’s motor controller and battery system.
  • Environmental Protection: The unit was sealed to meet IP67 standards, ensuring full protection against rain, mud, and dust — essential for shared urban environments.
  • Production & Quality: We oversaw the full production process, ensuring consistent high quality while keeping unit costs competitive for large-scale deployment.

Results

  • Seamless Integration: Hardware fit perfectly without modifying the existing bike design
  • Robust & Reliable: Fully IP67-certified and field-tested in real-world conditions
  • Connected & Scalable: Telematics platform fully integrated with backend systems via API
  • Production-Ready: Delivered a cost-effective solution ready for mass production

Client Outcome

Thanks to our end-to-end development support, the client was able to launch their shared e-bike program on time and with full telematics capabilities. Their platform operates with real-time location tracking, remote locking, usage data analytics, and full fleet management. all powered by our integrated hardware solution.
